Diane Elaine Lilly (Giese) Vanderkin, 75, of Sheboygan Falls, entered eternal life on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center, surrounded by her loving family.Diane was born on March 21, 1942, in Sheboygan, a daughter of the late Frederick and Delores (Mog) Giese. She graduated from Elkhart Lake High School in 1960. She was united in marriage to Thomas Vanderkin on October 5, 1963. Throughout her life she enjoyed employment at Borden Foods, Franklin Mutual Insurance Company, Wilson Mutual Insurance Company, finally retiring from The Sheboygan Clinic. During her retirement she dedicated her time to volunteering at Sharon S. Richardson, facilitating reciprocal Church group trips to and from Germany, and organizing numerous fundraisers and, of course, being an ever-present Grandma.Diane was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Church of Christ. She was actively involved in the church choir and helped in many different ways. If something was going on at church you knew she would be there to help.Diane is survived by her husband, Thomas; three daughters, Kimberly (Jeff) Hartlaub of Kiel, Dawn (Allan) Krueger of Mequon, and Sarah Lutzke (special friend, Michael Schmidt) of Sheboygan; seven grandchildren, Thomas, Ashleigh (fianc Alex VanDeurzen), and Alexander Hartlaub; Bryce and Mason Krueger; and Abigail (Devlin Pangburn) Lutzke and Olivia Lutzke; two sisters, Karen (Glenroy) Ausloos of Kiel and Kristine Giese (special friend, Michael Hunter) of Whitefish Bay: a brother, Michael (Vanessa) Giese of Plymouth and her brothers-in-law, Dale (Loretta) Vanderkin, Russell (Darlene) Vanderkin, both of Plymouth, James (Mary) Vanderkin of Reedsburg and Warren (Carolynn) Vanderkin of Greenbush. Nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends further survive her. Diane was also preceded in death by her brother Charles Giese and her sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rosaline and Jim Hanson, infant (brother-in-law) John Vanderkin, and Larry Vanderkin.A memorial service for Diane will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, March 17 at Immanuel United Church of Christ with Rev. Laura Yurs, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may gather at the church, W3694 Cty Rd FF on Saturday from 11 AM until the time of service at 2 PM.In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Dianes name to Immanuel United Church of Christ. Dianes family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you and extend gratitude to the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, Aurora Medical Centers in Grafton and Sheboygan, and especially to Rev. Laura Yurs for her comfort and prayers along with all those who reached out to help our family.
