Lillian Goethke Obituary

Lillian A. Goethke, 105, a longtime resident of Elkhart Lake passed away on Sunday morning, May 28, 2017 at St. Nicholas Hospital. Lillian was born on February 3, 1912 in the Town of Rhine, a daughter to the late Henry and Amelia Buchman Menne. She graduated from Elkhart Lake High School. On September 18, 1935 she was united in marriage to Oswald Goethke in Chicago. They lived in Elkhart Lake and together ran a milk truck route. Some years latter they moved to the family farm in Town Rine before moving back to Elkhart Lake in the summer of 1951. Oswald preceded her in death on July 3, 1977. Lillian was a cook at the Elkhart Lake High School prior to her retirement. She was well known in the Elkhart Lake area for her talent as a seamstress. Lillian was a member of the Community United Church of Christ where she served as treasurer for the church Sunday school for seventy years. Lillian is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Priscilla Goethke of Tigerton; her four grandchildren Randal (Carrie) Goethke of Appleton, Deede (Bo Demeler) Goethke of Texas, Javalin (Kevin) Hickey of Chicago and Dawn (Kevin) Bagemenhl of Sheboygan; her five great grandchildren, Andrew and Elisabeth Goethke, Aysha Demeler, Declan Hickey, and Draven Bagemehl and daughter-in-law, Chiyo Goethke of Elkhart Lake. Other relatives and friends survive. She was also preceded in death by a son, William, a grandson, Clayton, a sister, Henrietta Peters and brothers, Ralph and George Menne. A funeral service for Lillian will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, June 8 at Wittkopp Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Deborah Tyler, pastor of Community U.C.C. officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Elkhart Lake. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home, 123 south st., Plymouth on Thursday from 12 Noon until the time of service at 2 PM. Memorials in Lillian's name are appreciated for Community U.C.C. or St. Nicholas Hospice. Lillian's family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the St. Nicholas Hospice, Her daughter-in-law Chiyo, and all the caregivers who assisted her through the past year and a half.
