Marie Held Obituary

Marie J. Held, 95, of Cascade passed away on Monday morning, March 6, 2017 at Anitas Garden in Plymouth. Marie was born on July 13, 1921 in the Town of Lyndon, a daughter to the late Abraham and Elizabeth (Hulee) Eggebeen. She attended grade school in Cascade and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1939. On August 23, 1941 she was united in marriage to Byron Held, Sr. at the United Brethren Church in Cascade. He preceded her in death. During her working years she was a telephone operator, factory worker and retail salesperson at J.C. Penny and Seiferts. In retirement she volunteered with the Plymouth Hospital Auxiliary in the gift shop and then answering phones and helping where needed at Generations. Marie especially loved flowers and her gardens along with a variety of crafts. Marie was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo Her love of flowers provided her the opportunity to furnish fresh flowers of the season every Sunday at the church and keeping the planters in the narthex decorated with seasonal silk flowers. Marie is survived by her three children, Byron (Nancy) Held, Jr. of Crivitz, Kay "Cookie" (Joe) Schneider of Cascade and LuAnn "Betsy" (Jon) Chisholm of Ormond Beach, FL; her grandchildren, David (Lisa) Held, Barry (Leslie) Held, Eric (Lisa) Held, Joe (Dawn) Schneider, Jr., Leesa Melis (fianc, Dave Block), Jamie Schneider (significant other, Renee Hall) Chad (Meredith) Chisholm; great grandchildren, Connor and Hayes Chisholm, Luke, Cole and Hannah Held, Seth Fuller, Josh Bomberg, Heather Schneider, Zachary and Nicholas Melis, Amanda Hawkins, Noah, Elizabeth and Emma Schneider; and two great-great grandchildren, Jacee Fuller and Jamus Hawkins; a brother Abraham (Laura) Eggebeen of Austin, TX and a sister-in-law Adeline Held of Batavia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Byron, grandson Christopher Chisholm, a brother, William Eggebeen; six brothers-in-law and Five sisters-in-law and her special friends, Jean Miller and Wilma Dettman A memorial service for Marie will be held 3 P.M., Saturday, March 11 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo with Rev. Denise Kwiatkowski pastor, as officiant. Family and friends may gather at the church, 425 Lyndon Street, Waldo from 2 P.M. until the time of service at 3 P.M. Memorials in Maries name to Trinity United Methodist Church are appreciated. Maries family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Anitas Garden and the Serenity Hospice staff.
