Terry Borkenhagen Obituary

Terry J. Borkenhagen, 43, of Random Lake passed away at his home with his family beside him on Thursday evening, April 21, 2016 after a three year battle with colon cancer. Terry was born on January 11, 1973 in Sheboygan, a son to John and Jean (Verhage) Borkenhagen. He grew up in the Batavia and Cascade area and graduated from Random Lake High School in 1991. Following high school he attended Moraine Park Technical College. On April 8, 2000 he was united in marriage to Karen Meyer at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Plymouth. He was employed with the Kohler Company as a machinist for 23 years. Terry was known for his contagious smile, positive attitude, and his larger than life personality. He was a positive role model and influence for the entire Random Lake community, especially to all the kids he coached and interacted with throughout his years. For thirteen years he coached basketball, 11 of those years with the J.V. girls basketball team and one year with the Varsity girls basketball team at Random Lake High School. He also spent a year as the 8th grade boys basketball coach at Random Lake Middle School. He enjoyed playing sheepshead, cribbage, bowling and softball. As an outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting and had a passion for fishing. Terry was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Sherman Center and was active in their school withvarious fundraisers. Terry is survived by his wife, Karen; a daughter, Brianna Borkenhagen of Oshkosh; a stepdaughter, Laura Mueller (special friend Paul), of Milwaukee; a stepson, Jeremy Mueller of Random Lake; his father, John Borkenhagen of Cascade; his sister, Vicki Hiller of Random Lake; his maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Verhage of Sheboygan; nephews, Mitchell and Tucker Hiller of Random Lake; his brother-in-law, Randy Meyer (fianc, Tammy) of Plymouth and his sisters-in-law, Lori (Steve) Hoffmann of Plymouth and Kay (William) Clausing of Belgium. Other nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive along with his best friend Jeremie Dippel and faithful dog, Phoenix. Terry was preceded in death by his mother in 2010, his maternal grandfather, paternal grandparents and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eugene and Donna Meyer.. A funeral service for Terry will be held 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, April 26 at St. John Lutheran Church, Sherman Center with Rev. Randal Schoemann officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Family and friends may visit at the church, W5406 Cty Hwy SS on Tuesday from 3:30 P.M. until the time of service at 6:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Terrys name. Terrys family would like to extend a sincere thank you and extend their deep appreciation to the Random Lake community for all the prayers and support given to them during his illness.
