Donna J. Leon Vater

Donna J. Vater, 81, of the town of Greenbush passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday morning, March 30, 2018.Donna was born on September 15, 1936 in St. Cloud, WI, a daughter of the late Frank and Romilda (Dreifuerst) Leon. She attended Greenbush Grade School and graduated from Glenbeulah High School in 1955. On September 17, 1960 she was united in marriage to Frederic "Fritz" Vater at St. Fridolin Catholic Church in Glenbeulah. Donna was employed at Lawn Boy, the Americ Inn and then retired from M.A.S. Industries. She was an avid card player and took great pride in her gardens, growing the plants from seed.Donna was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake.Donna is survived by her husband, Fritz; three sons, Michael (Pat) Vater of Greenbush, Allen (Mellissa) Vater of Alpharetta, Georgia and Gerald (Tami) Vater of Plymouth; seven grandchildren, Katie Vater and Daniel Vater, both of Milwaukee, David Vater of Savanah, GA, Kimberly Vater and Jonathon Vater, both of Alpharetta, GA, Jaclyn Vater of Boston, MA and Tyler Vater (special friend, Ashley Curtis) of Waldo and a great grandson, Rhett Vater. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Connie Leon and brothers-in-law, Robert Vater and Raymond Vater.A Mass of Christian Burial for Donna will be celebrated at 1 PM, Tuesday, April 3 at St. Fridolin Catholic Church in Glenbeulah with Rev. Philip Reifenberg as celebrant. Burial will be in the Greenbush Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at the church, 210 Dillingham St., Glenbeulah on Tuesday from 11 AM until the time of Mass at 1 PM.Memorials in Donnas name may be directed to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake.
